Background: Olutomi (Tomi) Adesogan, B.S., is a masters of public health student at Emory University. She holds a bachelors degree in health education and a minor in health disparities in society from the University of Florida. During her undergraduate career, she gained experience in facilitating HIV testing and providing safe sex education around the state of Florida with WellFlorida Council and contributing to the successful execution of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMSHA) National Prevention Day in 2022 as a Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) intern. Upon graduating from UF, she received the the Undergraduate of the Year award from the UF Department of Health Education and Behavior. Before pursuing her masters degree in public health, Tomi spent her gap year working as a pediatric asthma educator and clinical research assistant at the Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Research Interest: Tomi's research interests include postpartum opioid use prevention, HIV/AIDS and safe sex education, infant bonding, and menstrual hygiene. Tomi plans to explore her interests in her MPH program and tailor community-based approaches to center the collective physical and mental healing and wellbeing of marginalized populations.
